constellations behind closed doors

This photographic series was selected for exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW ARTEXPRESS.

These eight portraits, including a self portrait of the artist, capture an aesthetic manifestation of the deep and complex nature of the individual. There is a dark essence to the photographs as the artist wanted to explore the way in which people can be oppressed by their surroundings. Rose aimed to orchestrate narrative, whimsical set-ups that embody the essence of her subjects and the subtle characteristics that she has observed in them. Rose consciously chose and arranged things from my subjects’ homes, making order of chaos until she felt the assemblage presented a glimpse of these intricate individuals.
